Poppies on the Green 2018
When travelling through mid Wales recently, I noticed many of the villages had attached giant poppies to the lampposts to celebrate the centenary of the ending of the First World War when the Armistice was signed on 11th November 1918. A phone call to Brian Hewitt, MBE, President of the Stoke Gifford Branch of The Royal British Legion, resulted in a quantity of the giant poppies from local Poppy Appeal organiser John Moloney, which I posted around the Cenotaph on the village green.
The old post office has also commemorated the terrible event with some beautiful metal silhouettes.
